| Lake Vermilion is located in northern Minnesota, about 30 miles south of the Canadian border. Please note that if you are arriving by airplane, a rental car is a must.
The closest small airports servered by commerical airlines are the Hibbing airport (HIB) 47 miles and the International Falls airport (INL) 68 miles. Both are served by Northwest airlines via connections in Minneapolis. There is an airport for small private planes just outside of Cook. KCQM The Duluth International Airport (DLH) is the closest mid sized airport 85 miles from Lake Vermilion. However, this airport is still small and is only served by Northwest Airlines via Detroit or Minneapolis. The Minneapolis Saint Paul International Airport (MSP) is the largest airport in the state, serving almost all airlines.
